Sean S. Teller, Ph.D.

Principal

Dr. Sean Teller is a Principal at Veryst Engineering.  Dr. Teller has extensive experience in testing and modeling the mechanical behavior of materials at low and high strain rates, including viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity, nonlinear materials, and fracture mechanics.  His work spans many disciplines, including mechanical testing, consumer products, tissue engineering, biomaterials, polymer characterization, aerospace applications, and semiconductor manufacturing.  He primarily consults in the consumer products, automotive, consumer electronics, aerospace, and medical device fields.

Dr. Teller’s interests include designing, performing, and interpreting experimental data to characterize materials and industrial processes over a wide range of conditions to understand accurately the materials’ behavior.  His experience includes developing new experimental methods, designing and building test fixtures and machines, synthesizing and testing hydrogels, performing animal dissections, using clean rooms, and fabricating and testing composite materials.

Dr. Teller’s consulting focuses on polymer material testing, material modeling for finite element (FE) simulations, and FE simulations.  He has extensive experience in advanced FE modeling, including nonlinear materials, large deformations, nonlinear contact, and impact problems.  Dr. Teller uses FE modeling to guide design engineers to create better products as well as investigate failure of products currently in service.

Prior to joining Veryst, Dr. Teller was a Yield Engineer at Intel in defect metrology supporting high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.  He participated in both sustaining defect activities as well as defect reduction in leading edge technologies, including new technology startup and legacy processes.
