Optimal crystal orientation and displacement profile (color is proportional to relative displacement) for a piezoelectric bender made from lithium niobate (left) and PZT 5H (right)

In this webinar sponsored by COMSOL, Dr. James Ransley worked through a case study in which he optimized the properties of a piezoelectric bender actuator.  Dr. Ransley optimized the material orientation and dimensions to maximize the efficiency of the bender for the application.  He showed how to compute the blocking curve and modify the dimensions to achieve a given specification with minimal actuator volume.

The webinar took place on March 19, 2020 and included a live demonstration of the design of a piezoelectric device using COMSOL Multiphysics.  The webinar concluded with a question and answer session.  Click to learn more.
