Veryst is seeking a Polymer Materials Engineering Consultant to join our team of technical experts. This position focuses on advanced polymer characterization, materials selection, and engineering analysis for clients across diverse industries. You will work on challenging projects that require both theoretical and experimental expertise in polymer science and engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret material properties to support design, failure analysis, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with clients to define project objectives and deliver actionable recommendations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to clients in a clear, professional manner.
- Contribute to proposals and business development efforts by showcasing technical capabilities.
- Stay current with emerging trends in polymer materials and characterization technologies.
Position requirements:
Desired Experience and Education:
- MS or PhD in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Industrial experience in a materials R&D or applications role for 2+ years is preferred but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with polymer characterization techniques such as: DSC, FTIR, DMA, TGA, SEM, mechanical characterization, thermal characterization, or other techniques applicable to engineering polymers and composites.
- Strong understanding of polymer structure-property relationships and failure mechanisms.
- Familiarity with common production methods, such as injection molding, compression molding, or extrusion is a plus.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and report preparation.
- Ability to present complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to clients with diverse backgrounds and technical expertise.
Additional Assets:
- Knowledge of polymer composites, additive manufacturing, or advanced processing techniques.
- nterest in growing both your consulting practice and Veryst’s materials engineering practice.
Location:
- This position is primarily on-site at our Needham, MA office and lab.
