Veryst engineer offers COMSOL webinar

Dr. Jorgen Bergstrom spoke in a webinar titled "The Importance of Material Model Calibration for Structural FEA." Structural mechanics simulations often use nonlinear material models that need to be calibrated to experimental data. Dr. Bergstrom demonstrated how easily COMSOL material models can be calibrated and used in FE simulations.

A new addition to the Veryst team!

Veryst is pleased to welcome Eric Schmitt, M.S. to its engineering team.  Mr. Schmitt is a mechanical engineer who has worked in simulation, prototyping, testing, and product development roles.

Gold Sponsor of COMSOL Conference 2013

Veryst Engineering is proud to have been a Gold Sponsor of COMSOL’s premier event: COMSOL Conference 2013 Boston.

Article in NASA Software Tech Briefs

Veryst Engineering published an article in the September 2013 issue of NASA Software Tech Briefs titled "Conjugate Thermal Analysis of a Generic LED Light Bulb."  The article illustrates how a coupled thermal CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis is used to predict the temperature variation and airflow around an LED bulb.  Thermal management is a challenge in the design of compact LEDs since the higher power density results in high temperatures that negate the other benefits of LEDs.  This multiphysics modeling approach is essential for exploring a wide range of design

Article in the 2012 COMSOL News magazine

Veryst Engineering, in collaboration with Nordson EFD, published an article in the 2012 COMSOL News magazine titled "Modeling of Laminar Flow Static Mixers."

Interview with Veryst Principal on how to "Succeed as an engineering consultant"

Dr. Stuart Brown provided "Tips to Succeed as an Engineering Consultant" in an ASME interview. Dr. Brown says "you have to be bipolar" to be successful, explaining that "you have to be an expert, and then have to be able to do everything else."

Article in R&D Magazine features Veryst

Dr. Jorgen Bergstrom was featured in an R&D Magazine article titled “The Indispensable Biomaterial.” Silicone elastomers have grown in importance to the medical device industry, yet their design is particularly challenging given their physical complexity. Dr. Bergstrom discusses how nonlinear finite element analysis and advanced material are facilitating the design process.

Participation in ASTM Medical Device Committee

Dr. Stuart Brown attended the ASTM Medical Device Committee (F04) meeting in Tampa, Florida, November 16-17, 2011. He participated in subcommittee meetings involved in standard development on absorbable polymers, PEEK, tissue-engineering medical products (TEMPS) and orthopaedic devices.
