This behavior can critically affect the function of a component and is often encountered in gasket or sealing applications. Applied strain level, time compressed, and temperature can all significantly influence the compression set of a material. The compression set tests can then be used in a material model calibration using MCalibration for finite element simulations.
Veryst typically uses ASTM standard D395 to test the permanent deformation of rubbers, though custom test programs are available. Veryst Engineering is ISO 17025:2017 accredited to test according to ASTM D395 method B.
